Donnalucata is a charming fishing village and seaside resort on the southern coast of Sicily, part of the municipality of Scicli, in the province of Ragusa. It is known for its beautiful golden beaches, fishing traditions, and as a filming location for the popular Italian TV series Inspector Montalbano.

History & Description
Name Origin: The village's name dates back to the Arab domination period. It is derived from the Arabic phrase "Ain-lu Kat" or possibly Latinized as "Donnalucata," meaning "spring of the hours" or "fountain by the hour." This refers to a fresh water source that was visible and flowed five times a day, corresponding exactly to the times for Muslim prayers, likely due to the low tide.

Historical Significance: It is historically significant as the site where the Normans defeated the Arabs.

Landmarks:

Santuario Madonna delle Milizie: Perched on a hill overlooking the village, this sanctuary is a key landmark, housing a limestone statue of the Virgin Mary.

Palazzo Mormino Penna: A characteristic red building, which now houses town hall offices and serves as a venue for various cultural events. Its internal spaces were also used as settings for the Inspector Montalbano TV show.

Santa Caterina da Siena Church: A religious building noted for its façades composed entirely of light-colored calcarenite blocks.

The Seafront Promenade: A beautiful place for a stroll, lined with ice-cream parlours and handicraft stalls, leading to the small harbor.
